What is the Sagittarius Full Moon/ Blue Moon

The Sagittarius Full Moon in May 2026 falls on May 31 at 4:45 a.m., at 9 degrees Sagittarius — and it is a Blue Moon, the second full moon in May. It aligns with fixed star Antares, associated in Kabbalistic tradition with Archangel Uriel, making this one of the most energetically significant full moons of 2026. The themes are truth, phoenix energy, courage, and release. Your rising sign determines which specific area of your life is being activated — scroll to your sign below.

I was born under a Blue Moon.

My mom went into labor on the river, under a full moon, and that same lunar energy has had its hand in everything since. I just started my Chiron Return this year — the great reckoning, the “what is this life actually for” passage. And here we are, closing May under another Blue Moon that feels like anything but coincidence.

Two full moons in one month. That’s what makes this a Blue Moon: once in a blue moon, literally.

We opened May in Scorpio: transformation, what’s buried beneath the surface, the raw honest truth about what isn’t working. We are closing May in Sagittarius: truth spoken out loud, the arrow finally aimed and released, the next adventure beginning.

The cosmos don’t waste symbolism. We started in fire. We’re ending in fire. Just a different kind.

Rise from the ashes. Then fire the arrow.

The Full Moon Details

This full moon lands on May 31 at 4:45 a.m., at 9 degrees of Sagittarius. The Sun is in Gemini, the Moon directly opposite in Sagittarius — the way full moons always work. That opposition is the whole point: it pulls polarities into focus, illuminates what we’ve been circling around, and makes the invisible suddenly visible.

Sagittarius is mutable fire, ruled by Jupiter — the planet of abundance, expansion, optimism, and on the shadow side, overdoing and overpromising. Sagittarius rules truth, freedom, belief systems, faith, higher learning, and the law. It is the archer: the one who aims at something higher and then releases.

The question this full moon is asking all of us, in every area of life:

Is this still my truth?

Antares: The Fixed Star This Full Moon Is Aligned With

This is the part we need to talk about.

This full moon is aligned with fixed star Antares — one of the four Royal Stars, sitting in the heart of the Scorpion constellation. Associated with Archangel Uriel, the Watcher of the West. The ancients feared and revered this star in the same breath, and for good reason.

In Kabbalistic tradition, Uriel is the Angel of Divine Light: the Central Column, the one who holds the balance between extremes and awakens the mind to hidden knowledge. The Zohar connects Uriel to the altar fires of the First Temple — divine light that does not destroy, but transforms. Burns away what does not belong. Leaves only what is real.

That is Antares. That is what this moon is offering.

Antares is phoenix energy. It does not offer a comfortable middle. The invitation is to burn what is no longer real and rise… or to stay in the ash and call it safety.

The Sun, meanwhile, is aligned with Aldebaran: Archangel Michael’s star. In Kabbalah, Michael is the Prince of Loving-Kindness, associated with Chesed — mercy, grace, water, the open heart. He protects not through force but through love: the kind that flows freely and asks nothing in return.

In the ancient Jewish Kriat Shma bedtime prayer — still recited in homes all over the world tonight — the practitioner calls on all four archangels for protection: “To my right Michael, and to my left Gabriel, in front of me Uriel and behind me Raphael.”

We are living inside that prayer right now. Uriel before us in this full moon. Michael’s light in the Sun.

And here is the piece that tends to get lost in the “good vs. evil” framing: in Kabbalah, these two forces are not enemies. They are pillars. Chesed and wisdom. The open heart and the awakened mind. Love and truth.

What this full moon is asking us to hold is both.

The courage to love what we are releasing. The clarity to see what actually needs to go.

This is not a quiet moon.

The Collective Astrology

Before we get into your rising sign, here is what is shaping the energy around this full moon for all of us:

Jupiter is the ruler of this full moon, and it’s in a tense aspect to the Moon right now. Watch for the pull toward overextending, overcommitting, or overpromising. When we stay in compassion and authenticity, this moon is a powerful guiding light. When we act from fear or greed or the need to be right, the arrows miss.

Uranus is opposing this full moon, and the downloads are loud right now. Truth, freedom, sudden shifts, information coming in fast. If you have been getting strong intuitive hits in the dream space or quiet moments… trust them. Something is genuinely trying to land.

Mars is still squaring Pluto, which means there is an edge in the air. People are digging in. Everyone wants to be right. Be careful in debates right now, especially ones about belief systems, because this full moon is asking all of us to question ours, and that is uncomfortable territory.

Saturn is in a beautiful trine to this moon: the steadying hand in the room. Structure. Backbone. The kind of support that helps us act with intention rather than impulse. Several supportive aspects from Pluto and Neptune are also present: big vision, bold energy, the kind of clarity that does not wear off by Tuesday.

Venus squaring Saturn may bring a misunderstanding or two in specific relationships right now. Patience is worth it.

The overall energy: something is ready. The support is there. The courage is the variable.

Who Feels This Most Strongly

If your Sun, Moon, Rising, or any key placement falls between 7 and 11 degrees of Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, or Pisces — especially right at 9 degrees — you are going to feel this full moon most directly.

Not in a hard way. In a this is the moment way.

Why We Read by Rising Sign

Your Rising Sign — also called your Ascendant — is the sign that was rising over the horizon the moment you were born. It is the lens through which life comes to you… and it is the first impression you make on everyone who meets you.

Your Sun is who you are becoming in this lifetime. Your Moon is how you belong — your nervous system, your felt sense of home. Your Rising Sign is how the world meets you first. And in business, it is everything.

Here is the part that tends to surprise people: your Rising Sign is your public face. It is what others perceive before they know anything else about you. Before your story, before your depth, before your inner world — they feel your Rising Sign.

This is exactly why I use it to determine a client’s Primary Brand Archetype. The Rising Sign is not who we are in private. It is who we are in public: what our potential clients feel when they land on our page, watch our reel, or sit across from us for the first time.

I am a Leo Rising. When I was younger, people always called me precocious — that quality of seeming more certain than your age. Now as an adult, people are consistently surprised by how old I am. They expect someone younger. Why? Because Leo Risings read as light, youthful, and free. The Rising Sign lands before the words do. Every time.

Reading by Rising Sign tells us which house — which area of life — this full moon is personally activating. That is where the real work is happening right now.

If you do not know yours yet, run a free Human Design report on my website right here — it will show your Rising Sign along with your full chart. Then come back. When you pull it up, use the Whole House system for the most accurate read on which house is activated for you.

And if you want to know what your Rising Sign says about your brand archetype — what you project, what clients feel before you say a single word — I have a $7 report that calculates it directly from your chart. No quiz that changes by Friday. Just your actual answer.

Rising Sign Readings: All 12 Signs

Aries Rising — 9th House: Beliefs, Higher Truth, Philosophy

Something in our belief system is crystallizing right now. Not ending, exactly… landing. Something we have been growing in our minds and our faith over the past six months is ready to become solid ground.

This is the house of what we know to be true at our core: higher truth, spirituality, philosophy, long-distance vision. Antares here means there is nothing lukewarm about what is coming into clarity. It is all-or-nothing territory.

Saturn is supporting from the 12th house — the private, inward space. The work is quiet before it is public. Before we make any declarations, we do the inner work first.

The question worth sitting with: What do I actually believe now? Not what I was taught. Not what’s convenient. What is actually true for me in this season?

Taurus Rising — 8th House: Shared Resources, Transformation, Power Dynamics

The 8th house is where the deep stuff lives: other people’s money, intimacy, power dynamics, the kind of change that isn’t optional. Something that has been building quietly beneath the surface is fully illuminated under this moon.

This could be a financial arrangement, an emotional entanglement, a power dynamic in a close relationship that has finally reached its turning point. Antares here is uncompromising. We cannot transform what we will not look at.

Saturn is offering steady support, which means there is more strength available than we realize. But it requires honesty with ourselves first. The courage this moon asks for is the courage to see what has been simmering.

Gemini Rising — 7th House: Partnerships, Contracts, Key Relationships

The full moon falls directly across our ascendant into the 7th house: partnerships, contracts, the most important one-on-one relationships in our lives. Something between us and another person — romantic, business, otherwise — has been building and is now fully in the light.

Antares here means the stakes feel high because they are. What is built on something real will hold. What is not built on something real… this moon will show us.

Saturn is supporting, which is the steadying hand in all of this. The 7th house rewards honesty. This is not the time for half-truths. Have the conversation.

Cancer Rising — 6th House: Daily Life, Health, Work

Our daily life is reaching a tipping point. Work situations, routines, health patterns, dynamics with coworkers or in our career — something here has been escalating quietly and is now ready to be addressed.

Antares says: stop managing around it. Face it with full courage.

Saturn is supporting from the career sector of the chart, which means whatever shifts in our daily life right now is laying groundwork for something more substantial professionally. Our bodies may also be speaking loudly this week. Time to listen.

Leo Rising — 5th House: Creativity, Joy, Romance, Visibility

Oh, this one is beautiful.

The full moon lights up creativity, self-expression, romance, children, the things that make us feel most alive. Something we have been creating, nurturing, or pouring our passion into reaches a culmination under this light.

Antares here is pure fire: go big, be bold, do not dim ourselves for anyone.

Saturn is adding wisdom and expansion to what is blossoming. This is not fleeting pleasure: this is a genuine, substantial moment of abundance in our joy. Let ourselves have it fully.

Virgo Rising — 4th House: Home, Family, Roots, Inner Foundation

Something at home or within our family system is reaching a peak. A situation that has been simmering beneath the surface in our personal life comes fully into the light now.

Antares here is intense. There may be a confrontation, a revelation, or a necessary release within the family dynamic. Saturn’s grounding presence is saying: this is a necessary reckoning, and it leads somewhere more solid.

What is being asked of us right now is courage: the courage to have the real conversation, to set the real boundary, or to finally release something from the past that has been living in the walls of our inner world.

Libra Rising — 3rd House: Communication, Writing, Voice

Something we have been thinking about, writing about, or meaning to say out loud is ready to be released into the world.

Antares here means the message is bold and it carries real weight. Do not water it down.

Saturn is supporting from the 7th house of partnerships — which means this communication could have a significant impact on a key relationship in the best possible way. Our words have power right now. Time to use them.

Scorpio Rising — 2nd House: Money, Self-Worth, Personal Resources

A financial matter reaches a turning point. Something we have been building, saving, or investing in comes to a culmination… or something that has been draining our resources finally demands to be addressed.

Antares here is uncompromising: what are we worth, and are we acting like it?

Saturn is trining from the 6th house: what we have been consistently showing up for is about to produce real, tangible results. Stop negotiating against ourselves. The number we keep settling for? It is time to raise it.

Sagittarius Rising — 1st House: Identity, Body, Presence, Selfhood

This full moon is on us. Directly in our 1st house: our body, our identity, our entire sense of self.

Something about who we are — who we have become over the last six months — is being fully revealed to ourselves and to the world. Antares conjunct this moon in our 1st house is extraordinary. Warrior energy. Phoenix energy. The one who has walked through fire and emerged with a clarity that cannot be shaken.

Saturn is supporting, giving us the backbone to show up with structure and intention, not just impulse.

The archer knows when to release the arrow. This is the moment. Release it.

Capricorn Rising — 12th House: Subconscious, Solitude, Spiritual Release

The full moon is pulling us inward. The 12th house is the house of what lies beneath the surface: the subconscious, rest, solitude, what has been operating quietly in the background of our conscious awareness.

Antares here says: what comes up from the depths is significant. An old pattern, a fear, a belief we have been carrying quietly — it is ready to be seen and released.

Saturn’s grounding influence from the 4th house offers a safe container for what rises. This is not a full moon to perform for the world. It is one to sit with in quiet space, privately, and let the truth come up. What we release in the 12th house creates room for a powerful new beginning.

Aquarius Rising — 11th House: Community, Friendships, Future Vision

Our 11th house is lit up: community, friendships, networks, hopes, the future we have been building toward. A friendship may be clarifying — either deepening significantly or showing us it has run its course.

Antares says: commit fully or release. No more half-in.

Saturn’s supportive aspect from the 3rd house says a conversation, a message, or an idea we put into words now could be the catalyst that moves the entire vision forward. Who are our people, really? Time to align accordingly.

Pisces Rising — 10th House: Career, Reputation, Legacy

The full moon lands at the very top of our chart: career, public reputation, the legacy we are building. Something in our professional life reaches a culmination now. Work we have been doing, a role we have been stepping into, comes into full public view under this light.

Antares here is powerful and ambitious. This is not a quiet moment, especially as it pertains to our career.

Saturn is supporting from the 2nd house, connecting whatever professional peak is happening now directly to our earning potential and our sense of our own value. We are more ready than we think. Step forward.

One More Thing Before You Go

Connect this full moon back to the Sagittarius New Moon in December. What has grown since then? What has shifted? What have you finally stopped pretending?

That is the thread. Pull it.

We are also in Gate 16 right now — the Gate of Skills, in the Throat Center — for six days. The Throat is energetically activated for experimenting, refining, and sharing what we’re genuinely good at. If you want to layer that in, I wrote about it here.

One more timing note: Mercury Retrograde begins June 29. We have about five weeks of clear forward energy before it is time to relax, reset, and review what we have been building. Think of it like the buzzer at the end of a quarter in a basketball game: it does not mean the game is over. It means get off the court, get some water, and huddle up on what is working before the next quarter begins. This Sagittarius Full Moon is the archer’s moment: aim, then release. Or in basketball, it is like toeing up to the 3-point line and making a swish. If your chart has been calling you to look at your business blueprint, now is the right window. The clock is ticking.

The Business by Design Strategy Session is where we go deeper. Your chart has a blueprint — for how you attract clients, how you communicate, how you build authority in a way that is actually designed for you. Not the template version of your type.

Happy Full Moon. 🙂

Take some time for gratitude for what this month has asked of us. May you fire your arrow with precision and depth! And May the Wind be at your back.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Sagittarius Full Moon mean for me personally?

It depends on your rising sign. The full moon at 9 degrees Sagittarius is activating a specific house — a specific area of your life — for you personally. For Aries Rising it lands in the 9th house of beliefs and higher truth. For Sagittarius Rising it is directly on the 1st house: identity and presence. Scroll up to find your rising sign reading. If you do not know your rising sign yet, run a free chart here.

What is a Blue Moon and why does it matter?

A Blue Moon is the second full moon in a single calendar month — hence the phrase “once in a blue moon.” May 2026 opened with a Full Moon in Scorpio and closes with this Full Moon in Sagittarius. The bookend is not accidental: Scorpio for transformation and what is buried beneath the surface, Sagittarius for truth, freedom, and the arrow finally released. Two full moons in one month amplifies the themes of both.

What is the fixed star Antares and why is it significant at this full moon?

Antares is one of the four Royal Stars of ancient astrology — markers of power, fate, and spiritual significance. It sits in the heart of the Scorpion constellation. In Kabbalistic tradition it is associated with Archangel Uriel, the Angel of Divine Light: the one who transforms rather than destroys, who burns away what does not belong and leaves only what is real. When a full moon aligns with Antares, the energy intensifies considerably. This is phoenix territory. It does not offer a comfortable middle.

Why do you read full moon forecasts by rising sign instead of sun sign?

Your rising sign is the sign that was coming up over the horizon the exact moment you were born. It is your public face — what others perceive before they know anything else about you — and it sets the house framework of your entire chart. Reading by rising sign shows which specific area of your life a transit is activating personally. Reading by sun sign gives general themes. Rising sign shows you where the work is actually happening right now.

Which signs feel the Sagittarius Full Moon most strongly?

The mutable signs feel this most directly: Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, and Pisces. Especially if you have placements or points between 7 and 11 degrees of any of those signs, with the strongest intensity right at 9 degrees. If your rising sign is one of those four, or if your Sun or Moon falls in that degree range, this full moon is speaking to you directly.

What should we do during the Sagittarius Full Moon?

Take time for quiet contemplation, reflection, and release. The central question this moon is asking: is this still my truth? Connect it back to the Sagittarius New Moon in December — what has grown or clarified since then? This is also a five-week window of clear forward energy before Mercury Retrograde begins June 29, making it an ideal time to act on a decision that has been calling.

What does Mercury Retrograde on June 29 have to do with this full moon?

The Sagittarius Full Moon opens about five weeks of clear forward energy before Mercury Retrograde begins. Mercury Retrograde is a natural review period — like the buzzer at the end of a quarter in a basketball game. Not the end of the game: the signal to get off the court, hydrate, and huddle up on strategy before the next quarter. But first, there is work to do. The full moon is the archer’s moment. Aim, then release.
