What is a Gate in Human Design?
A Gate is one of 64 energy points on your Human Design chart, each tied to a specific theme — like focus, opinions, or grace. The Gates that are active (colored in) on your chart show where your natural gifts and growth edges live. Each Gate also lines up with an I Ching hexagram and a zodiac placement, so it carries layers of meaning beyond the chart itself.
What’s the difference between a Human Design Gate and a Gene Key?
They’re the same 64 positions, viewed through two different lenses. Human Design uses Gates to map your energetic design; the Gene Keys use that same numbering to explore each one as a spectrum — from its Shadow (where the energy gets stuck) to its Gift (where it flows) to its Siddhi (its highest, most refined expression). Together, they give you both the blueprint and the growth path.
What do Shadow, Gift, and Siddhi mean in the Gene Keys?
They’re the three frequencies every Gene Key can be expressed through. The Shadow is the contracted or fearful version of that energy — where most of us operate by default. The Gift is that same energy matured into something useful and generous. The Siddhi is its fullest, most enlightened expression. Moving from Shadow to Gift is where most of the real transformation — and the real business growth — happens.
