Hand Over the Spare Key: Astrology Forecast for October 12-18, 2026
Gate 32 and Gate 42, a Pluto station, a Mars and Saturn handshake, and the week we stop guarding our projects alone.
Most of us are holding something right now that nobody else knows exists.
It might be the offer we keep rewording. The workshop outline saved in a folder called “maybe.” The note to a past client that we have drafted four times and never sent. We rehearse it in the shower and on the drive home… and we have not confided in a single living soul.
A thing only we can open feels safe, like a locked drawer. But a drawer with one key is a drawer nobody will ever ask about or cheer for.
This week asks us to cut a spare key. Then place it in one trusted hand.
The Libra New Moon on the 10th is still working on us. Libra wants to know what we want and who we want it with, and with Venus backing up through Scorpio, the answers keep arriving from the past: an old client, an old idea, an old name that suddenly lights up the phone.
Welcome them back. Just take our time before we sign on for anything big while Venus is retrograde.
On Wednesday the Sun moves into Gate 32, the Gate of Continuity, while the Earth settles into Gate 42, the Gate of Growth, straight across the wheel.
Gate 32 is the gut check on whether something is built to last. Gate 42 is the one who carries a cycle all the way home. Put them together and we get the week’s pairing: the instinct that says “this one is worth keeping,” and the staying power to finish it. A project that somebody else knows about is far more likely to get there.
Curtain up. The cast is magnetic this week, and a few of them are cheeky.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 12: Velvet Coat, Flashlight
The Moon strides on in Scorpio wearing a black velvet coat and holding a flashlight under her chin, very theatrical and very pleased with herself. She squares Mars in Leo, who is already center stage in a gold cape with his sword out, hunting for applause. Mars does not enjoy being squared.
Venus and Mercury are seated at a corner table in Scorpio, sultry and whispering, passing folded notes. The Moon pulls up a chair beside them. Nothing about this scene is small talk.
It is a good day for the honest question, the long look at the numbers, or the follow-up call we have been dodging because it might get real. Ask a past client what changed for her after we worked together, then listen.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13: The Moon Takes a Coffee Break
At 4:46 a.m. Eastern the Moon goes void, which is astrologer talk for “she stepped out and left her coat on the chair.” She stays gone all day and strolls back at 8:59 p.m. as Sagittarius.
Plenty of us will feel it as plain tiredness, LOL, because the stage manager dimmed the lights on purpose. If it can wait, let it wait. Today is not the day for the big send or the launch button, and rest counts as part of the work.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14: Sagittarius Rides In Laughing
The Moon clomps in wearing riding boots and carrying a bow, spirited and laughing a little too loud for the room. She trines Pluto, so the truth gets easier to say out loud. She sextiles Neptune for a soft focus, and she trades friendly nods with Mars and Saturn, a pair who like to see things get done.
Uranus in Gemini jiggles the back doorknob in opposition, zany as ever, so expect an interruption or two. Meanwhile the Sun in Libra straightens his tie, and Jupiter in Leo throws open the double doors with real panache. The Sun-Jupiter sextile is building toward Thursday, and it amplifies whatever mood we walked in with.
Backstage, the Sun changes costume and walks out as Gate 32, jeweler’s loupe in hand, turning our project over in the light to see whether it holds. The Earth follows him into Gate 42 and plants itself like a stage floor, steady enough to hold the ladder.
Check the mood first. Then choose the person who gets the spare key: the friend or colleague who will ask “how is it going?” and mean it. Let the gut vote. Notice who our body relaxes around.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15: The Day of the Spare Key
The Moon trines Jupiter and harmonizes with the nodes, which feels like the whole cast agreeing for once. Venus is still backing slowly through Scorpio with one hand on a doorknob. On the other side of that door, Uranus is changing the lock.
She inconjuncts him, so what we want and what we are willing to let in keep missing each other. Watch for the sudden yank in either direction, and sleep on it before we act.
At 5:56 p.m. Eastern the Moon goes void again. At 10:40 p.m. Eastern, with no Moon on stage, Pluto stops at 3°04′ of Aquarius and turns forward.
He has been down in the cellar since May, working in the dark, and now we hear the creak of his boots on the stairs. He climbs up with a lantern in one hand and a ring of spare keys in the other. The drama is riveting, and he still squares Venus, so the staircase is steep.
Pluto in Aquarius hands those keys to groups, networks, and communities. Power that was private starts to get shared.
Our version is smaller and very doable: tell the person we chose on Wednesday what we are finishing, and ask them to check in. Say it plainly: “I am finishing this by [date]. Will you ask me about it?”
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16: Capricorn Puts On Her Good Coat
At 8:57 a.m. Eastern the Moon enters Capricorn in a tailored wool coat, reading glasses on a chain, planner open to a blank page. She sextiles Venus, so the mood is friendly and a little tender. She also squares Neptune, who wanders in behind her and presses the button on a fog machine.
Then Mars, still in the gold cape, does something rare: he trines Saturn and sits down. Saturn slides a measuring tape across the table, and Mars trades the sword for it. A bold move with a tape measure in its hand tends to get built, so make the brave call and put a first step and a name next to it.
Words may come out sideways today, and a few half-truths will drift in with the mist. Read every message out loud before we send it. Mercury is about to station retrograde, and the habit of reading twice will pay us back all season.
This is a Capricorn day, so give the project a date and put it on the calendar. A date turns a lovely idea into something we can show up for.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17: The Understudy Day
Not much is scripted today. The Moon squares Saturn, who is frowning over his ledger, and Pallas, who arrives in her helmet with a spear and wants a strategy before anybody moves.
The Moon also inconjuncts Mars, who is still wearing the cape and has nowhere to be. The whole day can feel a little off.
Let it be odd. Tidy a drawer, take a walk, skip the big decision, because Saturday does not need a performance.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18: Eris Tosses the Golden Apple
The Moon in Capricorn squares the Sun, and the Sun opposes Eris, goddess of discord, who strolls in and rolls a golden apple across the floor to see who grabs it. Duties, commitments, and who belongs where all step into the spotlight. The Moon goes void at 12:13 p.m. Eastern and walks back on at 9:40 p.m. as Aquarius.
The Venus and Pluto square is still humming at 3 degrees, and the Moon lines up with Pluto too. Let the apple roll. Ask which commitments are really ours to keep, and which we have been carrying out of habit.
Then keep the key where we can feel it in our pocket. A cherished project deserves a second pair of eyes and an encore.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Venus and Pluto square goes exact on October 20, and it gets one final pass on December 9. Mercury turns retrograde soon after this week ends. Two retrogrades on one stage make a long review season, and what we finish now gives us less to untangle later. I have a special invitation going out to my email subscribers this week, and I don’t think you will want to miss it, along with some practical business tips for harnessing this energy for your highest good.
